Overview.
This Privacy Policy applies to Flint, an iOS app published by CR Studios. It describes how information is handled when you use Flint, contact support, or buy a Flint membership through the Apple App Store.
Flint is a local-first practice app. Its core features work without an account and without cloud sync. We do not sell your information or use your practice content for advertising.
What Flint stores.
When you use Flint, the information you create is stored in the app's local database on your iPhone. Depending on the features you use, this can include:
- your chosen aim, obstacle, tone, practice length and other preferences;
- visit dates, streaks, completed actions and a limited local activity history;
- affirmations, intentions, saved items, programme enrolment and progress;
- plans, weekly reviews, practice feedback and programme notes;
- reflections, drafts, private rehearsals, saved wins, tools and monthly check-ins; and
- the device time zone associated with a session so dates display correctly.
You decide what to enter. Your writing may contain personal or sensitive information, so please only record what you are comfortable keeping on your device.
Flint does not require a login or account, and new practice data is not uploaded to a CR Studios server. An earlier pre-release installation may contain a local database using a previous filename; if so, Flint can migrate that local data on the same device. This is an on-device migration, not a cloud transfer.
Local storage is not the same as guaranteed secrecy. Flint uses the iOS app sandbox and your device's security controls, but it does not add a separate user-managed encryption key to the database. Protect your iPhone passcode and backups.
How information is used.
Flint uses local practice information to provide the features you request, including generating a daily practice, calculating progress and streaks, showing your saved content, creating plans, and displaying local reviews and insights.
Plans and recommendations use local rules and the information already on your device. Your writing, reflections and answers are not sent to an AI service.
If you email CR Studios, we receive the address and message you choose to send. We use that information to respond, investigate a bug, handle a privacy request, or protect the service. Please do not include backup passwords or information you do not want to send by email.
No tracking by default.
Flint does not include third-party advertising, behavioural analytics, cross-app tracking, or a third-party crash-reporting SDK. It does not transmit your journal, reflections, programme answers or local activity events to CR Studios for analytics.
Apple may receive diagnostics if you choose to share device analytics or crash data through your iOS settings. That sharing is controlled by Apple and your device settings, and is handled under Apple's own privacy policy.
Memberships.
Flint memberships are optional and are purchased through Apple's App Store. Apple processes payment and does not provide CR Studios with your full payment-card details.
Flint uses RevenueCat to validate App Store transactions, manage membership access and provide subscription and revenue reporting. RevenueCat may process subscription, product, transaction and entitlement status, a pseudonymous app customer identifier, and technical information needed to provide its service. Flint does not attach your journal, reflections, plans, rehearsal answers or other practice writing to the RevenueCat customer record.
Apple and RevenueCat process information under their own terms and privacy policies: Apple Privacy Policy and RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
Third-party services.
Flint's normal practice features do not rely on a CR Studios cloud database. The third parties involved in optional or supporting features are:
- Apple — App Store distribution, StoreKit purchases, subscription management, device notifications, backups and system sharing.
- RevenueCat — transaction validation, membership entitlements and subscription reporting.
- Your chosen share destination — only when you explicitly export or share a file.
These providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Their own privacy policies explain their processing, retention and international-transfer practices.
Your choices.
Delete local data
You can delete local practice data using Flint's settings. Local data is also removed when you uninstall Flint or erase the iPhone, subject to anything retained in a device backup. Exported files, screenshots, shared copies and backups must be deleted separately from the place where you saved them.
Manage memberships
Apple and RevenueCat retain transaction and entitlement records needed to operate and audit a purchase. Deleting local Flint data does not cancel a membership or delete those records. Manage or cancel a membership in your Apple subscription settings.
Requests
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information held by CR Studios, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Because Flint's practice content stays on your device, CR Studios cannot retrieve it for you. To make a request about information we hold, email support@crstudios.app.
Age and changes.
Flint is intended for people aged 13 and over. It is not knowingly directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
We may update this policy when Flint, its services or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top of this page will show when the current version was published.
Questions about this policy or a privacy request can be sent to support@crstudios.app.
